I had a beautiful 'mongrel' Peter, who developed diabetes, he was so patient and forgiving, he would come and stand beside me and wait for his insulin shot each morning. I probably contributed to his death as I was unaware of the significance of too much carbohydrate in the diet. Eventhough he was on a diet specific canned food from the vet, I was never advised about the dangers of extra carbs. He crashed and died in my arms after a horrible amount of vomiting just 'water', apparently, the stomach lining, so the vet said. I was quite distressed and disappointed with his treatment. It still tears at me when I think of how he must have suffered. He was such a loving 8yr old friend.
